Went crosscountry skiing down the canal road just southeast of Cabela's.  Even though the freeway and alpine highway were always in view I could ignore that they were there and just enjoy the majestic mountains surrounding the valley.  It was even better because there was a beautiful sunset over the west mountains.  Smoggy sunsets are the best!  

I think I'll ski instead of run whenever I can this winter....

Evening run to the stake center to watch the youth in our ward play church ball.  Round trip of 2 miles even.  Even though the air was supposed to be clean it still left a bad taste in my mouth... so I felt yucky after the run.

150 situps. 75 pushups. 35 pullups during break at work.  After my run last night I decided I better strengthen my core.

1.3 mile ski up Millcreek canyon.  It was beautiful!  My wife and I got up to the canyon kind of late so we didn't have much light left so we skiied until it got too dark and turned around and came down.  The ground was pretty icy, but it made for a good glide back down.

I was in the mood to do some work on the track and I happened to be in the Pleasant Grove area so I stopped at the highschool to use the track but lo and behold it had too much snow for me to comfortable run ( I should have figured as much).  So I jumped in my car and went back to Lehi where I found their track was the same way. 

Does anyone have any tips on good indoor tracks in the area?

In the end I decided to run hills and when I got to the hill (on a road behind Smiths in Lehi) I ran down it and then got side tracked following a path up the Lehi River bottom up to a little dam a ways up the canyon.  Ironically, I ended up running in snow the whole time anyway but at least I could explore while doing so instead of run in circles.

Treadmill time after work.  Average pace was around 8.5mph

Treadmill work again.  4 miles.  This treadmill must have been faster than the one I was on yesterday because trying to keep at a 9mph pace was a lot harder then it was yesterday.  I probably averaged an 8pmh pace.  I've never seen this many people in the gym here at work, new years resolutions must really be kicking in.

I meant to run longer today, but I woke up a little late and didn't have time...

After an early morning temple visit (which as I mentioned earlier wasn't as early as I would have liked) I went up to Highland and ran up towards the base of Lone Peak.  It was a beautiful area and very nice to run outside again and the air was fairly clean (aside from the ocassional animal smell - I guess anybody up in Highland can have farm animals because many had horses or cows right in their back yard).  I love running at the base of those mountains too so I can look up them and plan my upcoming summer hikes...

treadmill work.  Average 7 minute mile pace. 

I couldn't hold my 6 minute mile pace for much more than a quarter mile at a time so I hope to be able to build that up.

Everybody in the gym at work was running in the dark?  So when I got there I turned the lights on - hope I didn't offend anyone but I don't like running in the dark with a bunch of strangers :)
